The Kunnenkeril family was an old established one in Kerala, going back to the sixteenth century. Originally belonging to the Syrian Christian faith, its members became Anglicans in 1888. Kunnenkeril Koratha was ordained priest in the Anglican Church.
Kuruvila Jacob spent two years in Leeds, taking first a diploma and then his Master's degree in education. Not only did he get a good grounding in his specific interest, he was also exposed to a lot of new thinking in the field of education.
After his retirement from MCC School, Kuruvila Jacob was much in demand as an educator. The Hyderabad Public School, which had originally been set up in 1923 as a school for the sons of jagirdars under the Nizam and had after Independence.
